Use the printed serving as a reference basis
FDA explains that label serving sizes reflect customary consumption rather than a recommendation of how much a particular person should eat. The selected panels use 40g for Sunsweet,7.5g for the shown Brothers bag and 28g for Bare. Those different denominators must travel with the associated calories and sugars. A bare number without its serving basis is incomplete.
Do not rank unlike portions as equal
A30-calorie label for one small inner bag is not directly the same purchase or amount as a 100-calorie 40g prune reference. The difference in the stated portion matters. This site displays the source fields but does not declare a health winner from the smallest per-serving number. The serving is also not a fruit-piece count or a volume-density measurement.
Keep package information separate
A pouch may contain several labeled servings, while a small inner bag may use the entire bag as the serving. Read the actual panel to establish that relationship. “About 3.5servings” on Bare remains approximate. It is not an exact count of portions that can be packed without measuring, and it does not change the 3.4oz declared net weight.
Make a useful shopping note
Save product identity, serving grams, household measure and associated nutrient values together. For example, record Bare’s about 2/3cup 28g 110calories rather than “apple chips 110.” If the goal is to compare a new package with an earlier one, first establish that the same recipe and label version are being reviewed. A new denominator can otherwise look like a recipe change.
Leave individual decisions to their proper context
The tools have no age, body weight, medical condition or daily calorie-budget fields. They do not produce child or adult daily portions, diabetes permission or a treatment plan. A label can support a purchasing discussion with a qualified professional; it does not supply enough information for this shopping site to prescribe a person’s intake.
Save the denominator before comparing a new label
If a later fruit panel shows60calories, do not compare that number with the current30without also saving the new serving grams and package identity. A changed reference amount can change the per-serving figure even when the product has not been established as reformulated. Conversely, matching serving grams does not prove the recipe is unchanged. Keep exact selected identifiers, serving text and associated nutrient lines in separate fields. That lets a buyer ask what actually changed without turning a label comparison into personal nutrition advice.
